Modern, Spacious Living in the Rattlesnake

This retired couple took the leap and decided to move to Missoula to be closer to the grandkids. Their vision? They wanted a contemporary home that brought the outdoors in, complementing the expansive views of Missoula’s iconic Rattlesnake neighborhood. Yet they also wanted an open floor plan and plenty of warm, inviting areas for all-season extended family gatherings.

We worked alongside the owners from start to finish. First, we helped find their architect, then acted as the “owners voice,” working together with the architect to site the house in the perfect spot, allowing for the best light and sweeping views. 

Since this couple was building from scratch, there were a number of questions they needed to answer that they hadn’t anticipated. We guided them in each and every decision, from floorplan to the finishing details. Also, with this being their forever home, we designed additional elements to allow for aging in place for this older couple.

The result is an exceptional example of a spacious, warm, and contemporary home. It’s not only well-suited to the location, but we enjoyed getting playful in the details, bringing a clean, outdoor aesthetic to the indoor spaces and intimate finish additions on the exterior, where the view from the deck may truly be one of Missoula’s best.
