Make your home yours

Whether you’re building a new home or remodeling an existing one, you’ve likely thought about adding a few touches that make your house unique. After all, this is your chance to design your home so that it fits YOU. While the list of potential ideas goes on forever, we’ll highlight a few here to get you thinking about what you can do to make your mark on your forever home.

Consider fun add-ons and finishes

Stand-out details go a long way to show off a particular style or preference. For example:

  • Exposed staircase railings with combination metal and wood finishes offer a modern look that still feels warm and inviting.

  • Built-in bookcases and window seats make a statement about your values while creating intimate places for family members to get a little alone time.

  • Rustic barnwood or beadboard wainscoting can give a room tremendous character, plus serve as a protective barrier for the lower portion of the wall, protecting it from chair dings or shoe scuffs.

  • A statement backsplash is an excellent way to showcase your personality and flavor. Subway tiles, brickwork, herringbone, stamped tin … the list goes on. Hit up Pinterest or work with a home designer to see what works for you and your kitchen.

Think beyond the necessities

Of course, there is a list of necessary appliances for any modern home. But there are also many amenities that can add enjoyment to daily life. Bring us one or two of your dream elements and we’ll see if we can make it happen! Here are a few ideas:

  • Deluxe shower: For many of us, the shower is the one place in our home where we can count on a little privacy and relaxation. When you think about how many hours you might spend in the shower over the course of a lifetime, why not go the extra mile to make it exactly how you want it? Whether it’s a dual showerhead, built-in speaker, or built-in bench, give it some thought and make it your own.

  • Wine fridge: A simple wine fridge can add some serious interest to your kitchen and be a point of conversation at dinner parties.

  • Gas fireplace: While your home will likely be heated by forced air or radiant heat, adding a gas fireplace to a sitting room or your master bedroom can add character and coziness to your home. The glow from the dancing flames will enhance any conversation or book.

  • Loft: An exposed loft is a wonderful spot for a home office, kids playroom, or even a yoga space, offering a sense of separation but keeping you within earshot of family members.

Most of us have one opportunity in our lives to build or remodel our dream home. Let us help you think beyond the floorplan or the type of countertop, and we’ll have a little fun dreaming about ways to make your home uniquely yours.
